TEXAS BOWL 2006

Here we are - in our purple!

We're on our way

Tailgating Texas-style.

We were excited to see Gunnar and Candance!

This is obviously towards the end-- after many a beers were consumed.

Lance was sweet enough to sport my dad's old football number. Awww...

Again, obviously nearing the end of the game.

Dad is cursing the Cats.

But the night wasn't over when we left Reliant. Kristen was kind enought to entertain us with Songs of Joy ALL the way home. We even have it on video. Forever.
Despite an embarassing showing for the Cats -- everybody had an AWESOME time. It just took us a couple days to recover- but I guess that's always a good sign for fun times. And Sonya definitely makes honorable mention for staying to babysit -- and not getting home until 2:30am. Enjoy the pics - this is just a sampling of the 72 pictures taken that day.

Christmas Morning and we're headed to the camp!

Wake up Baby -- it's time for Santa

Christmas Morning- who wants to play Santa?

Kristen and Colin playing with all the gifts.

Colin and his Christmas Kubota--

Big Dave entertaining the entire Kennedy clan at his Jasper camp- everybody had a BLAST playing on the Kubota and 4 wheeler.

Even Chili loved the outdoors

Kristen is just glad to have the opportunity to dress like a redneck. I think between the two of us we had on ten sweatshirts - no lie! We cleaned out Colin's closet.

Let's go faster, Dad.

While we were out four-wheelin, Mamason and Koffee stayed home and played with Baby J.

This is what Mark looked like for 48 straight hours.

After 2 days on the four wheeler, Mark planted himself by the fire for the evening.

Christmas Eve 2006

The day started with all the guys (plus Kristen) headed to watch the Texans play the Colts-- and Christmas came early with a Houston victory!

Lance cooked cajun shrimp and crawfish in the freezing cold.

Whoa. Hard core.

Colin finally gets a chance to open Lance's curious gift --- anything wrapped in a tarp is sure to please. ESPECIALLY when it's a pop-a-shot / air hockey table. SWEET

Kiss the Cook

Here's Table Number Two in the Living Room.

Lance, Nancy and Evelyn Delcambre stopped by for a visit. I've never seen such beautiful eyelashes on a little girl - she is absolutely precious!

Here's the entire crew

The Golden Boys waiting for Santa

Baby James in his Christmas pj's ready for the big morning!

Even Chili and Trooper are in the holiday spirit of sharing

Colin's Birthday duck hunt

I realize it's been awhile since I've shared any new pics, so I'm going backwards in chronological order. Colin, Lance, and Dave all enjoyed a day of duck hunting in celebration of Colin and Dave's Birthday- here are some pics. Sorry for the dead animal shots -- an fyi for the animal lovers out there-- I'm a faithful member of the Humane Society and ASPCA to make up for it.

DUCK

This is a verbatim email I received from my dear friend Toni. Her husband teaches in Oklahoma City- and this is an account of his average Tuesday. Funny thing is Toni is about 8 1/2 months pregnant-- and not only does she have an adorable Boxer. Now, apparently they have a duck for a family mascot. Well at least lil Payne will have something to play with. Too bad Toni's a vegatarian, or else they could have a yummy Christmas dinner with Bret's new find.

So here is how my day started off:
I get my kids to the room around 7:55 and one of my boys looks out the window and says, "Mr. Payne I think that girl is carrying a duck!" So I look out and see the 4th grade girl (that has been assigned to my room for the next two days, because her teacher is at meetings and she struggles with subs) carrying what looks like a live duck. I quickly run up to the front of the building to intercept her before she gets to the front doors. She is walking with nothing in her hands and her backpack on her back. I ask Anna if she was carrying a duck and before she could tell me, I see her backpack wiggle. She says she has it in her backpack and that it is for me. I look in there and sure enough there is a live full grown duck in this girls backpack. So what do I do? I sneak her past the office and take her to one teachers room after another making them open the backpack and wathc them freak out when the see the duck. She chased Joann around her room and sat it on her head (no lie!) It has been a blast. I made a cage for it in our pod and Anna checks on it every hour. Can we keep it? By the way, when we finally took it out of her back pack, it had pooped all over her stuff!
Have a nice day
